In the town of Reus, in the Catalonia region of Spain the Unió cooperative, which produces an annual 6 million litres of oil, is a modern business. This union of 80 different cooperatives, most within Siurana DO, is continually acquiring new technology to help preserve Arbequina oils delicate fruity aromas. Paper and earth plaques filter the damp from early harvest oils and the air in storage tanks is replaced by nitrogen to fight oxidation. Unió has also come up with a new item for the Parc Temàticos oil flask collection: a bottle with a unique anti-drip pourer.
